The User Agent Switcher extension adds a menu and a toolbar button to switch the user agent of the browser. It is designed for Firefox, Flock and Seamonkey, and will run on any platform that these browsers support including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Requirements

The User Agent Switcher extension is designed for Firefox, Flock and Seamonkey, and will run on any platform that these browsers support including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The extension supports the following versions of these browsers:


Firefox 1.0 - 2.0.*

Flock 1.0 - 1.0.*

Seamonkey 1.0 - 1.1.*

Install

If you are having problems installing the extension then please try the following:

  • If you are upgrading the extension then please uninstall the extension before upgrading. If you are using Firefox or Flock and the browser is unusable after upgrading then try starting the browser in safe mode and uninstalling the extension.
  • Try restarting your browser and installing the extension again.

  • Try saving the extension to your machine (by right-clicking or ctrl-clicking the
    download link and choosing 'Save Link As...') and dragging the saved extension into your browser window to start the install.

  • Try installing the extension in new profile.

Usage

After installing the extension there is a 'User Agent Switcher' menu under the 'Tools' menu of the browser. If you are using Firefox or Flock there is also a customizable toolbar button.

To switch the user agent of the browser:

  1. Select a user agent in the 'User Agent Switcher' menu under the 'Tools' menu of the browser.
  2. Refresh the switched user agent.

  3. Go to the site you are trying to access.


To customize the list of user agents select 'Options...' in the 'Options' menu under the
'User Agent Switcher' menu.

To add the toolbar button to your browser toolbar:

  1. Right-click on a toolbar and choose 'Customize...'.

  2. Drag the 'User Agent' button from the 'Customize Toolbar' window to a toolbar and click 'Done'.

Uninstall

If you are using Firefox or Flock then please use the built-in uninstall functionality.
